2022 Pinot Noir, Jeansheep Vineyard, Anderson Valley
On warm days, the Jeansheep Vineyard is perfumed by a mixture of Valley Oaks and Bay Laurel trees along Bollie’s Creek. Located on the northwest side of our estate vineyard, it is often the coolest of our Pinot Noir blocks because of the coastal winds that blow through in the afternoon. Its relatively richer soils than other blocks produce a thicker canopy, thus providing more shade to the fruit. It is our preferred grazing block for Babydoll Southdown sheep to find refuge from the summer sun. This balanced vintage has a rich plum and cassis flavor spiced with peppercorn and cacao nibs, with a violet nose. Before enjoying it thoroughly, we love swirling this wine in the glass to soften its chewy tannins.
