2019 Pinot Noir, Eye of the Needle Vineyard, Anderson Valley
LIMITED RELEASE |
Journeying into the Anderson Valley via Highway 253, you wind your way through its eastern gateway, the Eye of the Needle. At its end is Highway 128 and Pennyroyal Farm’s finest block of Clone 115 Pinot Noir grapes. The 2019 vintage was harvested from the heart of the vineyard, essentially the protected fruit from the earlier picks for the 2019 Blanc de Noir. The resulting wine has a pronounced pepper nose and exceptional morello cherry and cassis fruit spiced with fir tips -- a true testament to its cool-climate growing region. Its structured body is an ideal result of being aged 18 months in French oak barrels. This fine Pinot Noir is a perfect pair with decadent Velvet Sister as the deep, earthy notes of the cheese are perfectly offset with the rich, cherry nature of the wine.
